ColourPop Super Shock Cheeks Review

Guess what?! Finals are over! To celebrate, I have review for everyone!

Okay, you guys know how obsessed I am with ColourPop. About a month ago, they released their first ever blush collection called Super Shock Cheeks! I’ve been playing with them all month and I finally have my review with swatches of three of their new blushes.

Read about ColourPop here.

I also hauled a bunch of ColourPop shadows and Lippie Stix. If you would like the swatches of those and read my first impression on them, click here.

Named and Uncapped

Swatches with names

Colors:

  • Fox (Satin): A warm coral. This color gives a very natural flushed coral glow.
  • Prenup (Satin): The description is a mid-tone plum pink but I think because of my skin tone, it’s coming off more like a salmon pink color on the swatch. It gives a very subtle touch of pink on my cheeks.
  • Cheerio (Satin): A beautiful cranberry color. Sorry about the swatch! It got blurred out but it is a cranberry color. This is my favorite out of the three. It’s a deeper blush color but it gives me that nice natural blushing tanned look. Absolutely gorgeous.

Price: They retail for $8 which is inexpensive in my opinion. That is about the price of some drugstore blushes, maybe even cheaper. It contains 4.2 g of the blush.

Pigmentation: Very pigmented just like all the other ColourPop products and that’s visible on the swatches.

Application: Okay, this is where things take a turn. These blushes are definitely pigmented when swatched but unlike Nars or Tarte blushes where those blushes gives you a splash of pigmented blushes with one stroke, these don’t. When I applied them, I had to build them up to get to my desired pigmentation. I expected them to be just the like the Nars or Tarte blushes when applied because that’s how they’re eye shadows and lippie stix are. In a way, this can be a positive thing. It will be easier to control the amount of pigmentation that you want on your cheeks when applying these blushes. However, it does take more time when blending and building up the blushes on your cheeks. *TIP*: Use a stippling brush for better application and lessen the risk of staining your brushes.

Quality/Lasting Effect: As stated above, they take time to build up on your cheeks. However, I found that they were easy to blend and once they set, they stay on your cheeks for a long time. I wore them for about 12 hours. The blushes faded a little but the color and the effect was still visible. That’s still an impressive amount of time to hold out for blushes.

It’s Time for Change: Brunette to Blonde

A few days ago, I turned 21 and for my 21st birthday, I felt that I needed a major transformation. I went to the salon and this is pretty much what happened.

Here’s my before picture:

Here’s the process of my transformation:

Here are the results:

When I first saw it, I was pretty shocked. It was super bright and I was going for something more muted. But it turns out to be just their lighting. The salon I went to had super bright yellow lighting. Hence the color you see on my hair for this picture.

Here’s what my hair looks like in a more natural everyday lighting:

Overall, I’m happy with the results. I think it’s a good change especially transitioning into the spring and summer.

What are you guys doing for the spring and summer? Anyone getting a new haircut? Or perhaps some highlights? How bout some ombre hair?

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

As always,
Nicole ❤

The Liebster Award

liebsteraward

Hello everyone!

Recently, I was nominated by the lovely Miss White’s Makeup Desk for the Liebster Award. She is a makeup obsessed primary school teacher! She’s a very lucky lady. She has the privilege of teaching 22 little darlings. I found her while I was searching through the reader for makeup tags. I got to know her through our obsession for Colourpop! Hey, what can I say? Makeup brings people together!

Anyways, here are the rules:

First, you mention the person who nominated you on your blog and link them in.

Answer the 11 questions that you were asked when nominated.

Nominate 5 – 11 other bloggers (with less than 200 followers) and link them below.

Create 11 questions for them to answer and let them know that you have nominated them!

Here are the questions she asked and my answers:

1. If you won 30 million dollars, what is your plan? (Everyone has a winning money plan right?)

30 million dollars is a lot of money. If I was ever lucky enough to win that much money, I would first find some way to donate back to the community. Then I plan to use some of the money for college. I also want to save some of the money for the future when I decide to settle down and have a family. I also want to save it for the future generation. However, with that kind of money, I mostly want to use it to travel the world and see as much of it as possible. Oh and of course, some shopping!

2. If you had to throw away 5 makeup products right now that you own – what would they be and why?

Can I just cheat on this and say 5 lip products? LOL no but really I have so many lip products, some of them are probably the same color with different brand names. (Yes, I know I have a problem.) Other than that, I would probably throw away my elf concealer. I am very picky about concealers and this just doesn’t work for me. I bought it because others seemed to like it but it doesn’t match my skin tone well and it also feels cakey. I also need to throw/giveaway a bobbi brown cheek/lip pot. There’s nothing bad about it. People love them and so do I. Unfortunately, they break me out like most liquid based blushes. The other thing I would want to throw out is a bellapiere lip liner. I got it from a subscription box and right when I looked at it, I knew it was a miss. It was the same exact color as my lips and the consistency was also very dry.

3. If you could be any movie/TV character and live their life who would it be & why?

Hands down, it has to be Parker from Leverage. I love her and the character she plays. I also love the show. Parker is a highly skilled thief that now uses her skills to help people.

4. What is your favourite name for a girl and a boy?

Boy: Leo
Girl: Alice

5. If you had to live each night as an animal without being tired due to lack of sleep, which animal would you be?

Probably an owl. I just think they’re super cool. Most of them are really pretty too. They also have interesting adaptations for hunting.

6. What was the last lie you told?

Yesterday, I told my boyfriend that I’m going to stop buying makeup for a while. Then I got an email this morning about an eye shadow that was sold out but now back in stock. So I bought it…

7. If you could be any age for a week, what age would you be and why?

I would want to be 17, just because my 17th year was good overall. It was a lucky, fun and eventful year and I would want to relive that even for a week.

8. What is the weirdest/most unexplainable thing that has ever happened to you?

Hmm, this is a tough one but probably deja vu due to my dreams coming true. Sometimes, I would have dreams that would come true which causes me to have deja vu. It’s like I would see a person that I have never seen or met before in my dream then the next day or the day after, I would see them.

9. What is your biggest fear?

SPIDERS! I really really REALLY don’t like spiders! It just frightens me to be in a room with one. If there’s a spider in my room, I will run out the door and stay out of my room and until it’s gone.

10. What was your happiest moment?

Honestly, I’m not really sure. There are many happy moments in my life, I just can’t think of a specific one. It would probably be when I’m travelling, on an adventure or just being with my friends and family and having fun with them.

11. If you could make anyone alive in the world today instantly best friends with you, who would it be and why?

Probably Taylor Swift. I am a huge Taylor Swift fan and I really admire her. I feel like I would learn a lot from her and that she would make a great friend.

Alright here are the lovely people I’m nominating!

Whazzup Wasabi

Curly Spring Blossom

Something About Tiffanys

The Enchanted Mirror

Repressing the Crazy

Crazy Beautiful Life

Here are my questions for you guys! I hope you enjoy answering them:

1.What are the top 5 places you want to visit in the world?

2.Share one of your biggest pet peeves?

3.If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?

4.What is something you always wanted to do but never got the chance?

5.Share something unusual about yourself that you are proud of?

6.Who is your favorite Disney Princess and why?

7.What is the most unusual food you have tried and what did you think of it?

8.What accomplishment are you most proud of?

9.What is a scent that can instantly make you smile? (It can be anything, perfume, food, nature, coffee, etc.)

10.What is your number one guilty pleasure when it comes to shopping? In other words, what can’t you stop buying? What can’t you get enough of? (Be specific please. If you like makeup, what in makeup can you not pass up? Like lipstick? Eyeshadows? Etc).

11.If you could meet anyone in the world including people from the past, (pretend you could travel through time) who would you meet and why?

Thanks for reading everyone! For my nominees, I look forward to reading your answers!

As Always,

Fyrinnae Eye Shadows Review & Swatches

Hey guys! I’m so excited to share with you another indie makeup company! I’m especially psyched to share this with you since it is my favorite indie makeup company so far. That honor goes to none other than Fyrinnae!

Fyrinnae is a small and special indie makeup company. They create vegan and cruelty free products for all of us makeup obsessed to lovers to enjoy. You can read more about their company and standards in the Fyrinnae About Us page!

Review

Quality & Pigmentation: Despite them being loose shadows, I found these eye shadows easy to work with. They were blendable and easy to apply. I found some fall outs during the application but that’s to be expected since they are loose shadows or maybe I’m just an eye shadow bully. I suggest putting on your concealer after your eye makeup is done. Other than that, I had no problems with fallouts throught the day. As for the pigmentation, the swatches speak for themselves in other words amazing!

Lasting Effect: I thought that these held out pretty well. I wore for 12 hours and saw some fading on my lid but not too much. My eye makeup was still pretty defined. You can wear them wet with a MAC Fix Plus or something equivalent to that to make them stay on longer and have a beautiful foiled effect.

Price: The price was definitely reasonable. Each shadow comes in two sizes: Full and Mini. Most of their mini’s cost around $2.75 which contain 1/4 tsp of eye shadow and Full sizes around $6.75 which contain 3 grams of densely packed eye shadow. Prices may vary depending on the eye shadow itself but the prices are usually not much higher than what I stated above. Usually arcane magic eye shadows cost more but then again can you blame them?! They are gorgeous! You can read more about the amount of eye shadows you get for the Full and Mini in their FAQ page. Trust me, the Mini can last you a while. Their shadows are highly pigmented and you won’t need a lot of eye shadow to get the color to show up. I plan to only purchase the full size for my favorites like Serene Highness. Overall, the price is a good price point. You get a lot for what you pay for and it’s inexpensive!

Color Variety: I was overwhelmed when I first visited their site. I had to comb through the colors piece by piece to make sure I didn’t miss my possible favorites. They have a VERY wide variety of UNIQUE colors. There’s something in there collection for everyone even if you’re not a shimmery eye shadow type of person, you’ll still find something there. They have some eye shadows that are not as shimmery and closer to matte textures available.

Process Time: Please note that if you are new (like me, I’m learning) to indie cosmetics, their process time is usually longer than streamlined cosmetics companies. I’ve learned that most indie cosmetics usually have a process time around 10 business days. Some companies may have a lower process time. However, it can also be due to a long order queue. As for Fyrinnae, their maximum process time should be never more than 15 days (thank you M.atFyrinnae). This is consistent with my experience. I believe my order shipped out within a week to a week and a half which is about 7-10 business day. To me, that still seems long. I’m just not the patient type especially when I’m excited to receive makeup. BUT, I guarantee that it is worth the wait!

Overall Thoughts: Well by now, you can guess that I’m absolutely in love and obsessed with Fyrinnae! I already put in a new order. I also ordered their pixie Epoxy. More on that later when I receive it. Their process and shipping time is LONG but I’m willing to wait for such beautiful eyeshadows!
