NARS Audacious Lipstick Review and Lip Swatches!

Hey guys! I know it’s been a while but I’ve been out of the country lately and it was difficult to find a good internet source in the location I was at, so I couldn’t make any posts.

This month, I’ll be reviewing the NARS Audacious lipstick WITH lip swatches! If you haven’t heard of them, you are now and you should! These lipsticks are fantastic. So why bother doing a review? Even with its superior quality, these lipsticks are pricey.

I’ll start with the review. If you want to just see the lip swatches, then scroll down below after the review.

(Starting from the left: Julie, Natalie, Vera, Silvia, Vivien)

Quality and Pigmentation: Quite possibly one of the best quality lipsticks that I own. This lipstick is creamy, glides on smoothly and doesn’t bleed. The pigmentation is superior for a lipstick. All of the swatches on my arm were done with one swatch except the first one because I was swatching from a weird angle. That’s the amazing thing about this lipstick. You don’t have to coat your lips over and over again to get that full luscious color. One good swipe is enough.

Lasting Effect: I would say that the lasting effect of this lipstick is above average. This can honestly last you for an 8 hour work or school day. For me personally, I reapply around the 6 or 7 hour mark because that’s when I can see the color fading away. It’s not too bad, but I prefer to have my lipstick fully bright all day long. If you don’t reapply around that mark, then the color will still be there. It will look a little faded but the color will still be noticeable.

Price: The only downside of this lipstick is the price. This lipstick retails for $32 which is VERY pricey for a lipstick. I think these are one of the most expensive lipsticks I own. BUT! You really do get what you pay for. This lipstick may be expensive but the quality will not disappoint.

The BIG question: IS IT WORTH? Absolutely! Like I said the quality will not disappoint. This lipstick really does excel in quality, lasting effect and pigmentation. I recommend it for everyone ranging from beauty addicts or to those that just wants one good everyday lipstick. Especially for those that want one good lipstick. They have a huge range of colors and will have something for everyone. Pick one, earn up and get it. Even if you use this everyday, you won’t use it up that fast. It’s very pigmented, so you only need a little to apply it. You also won’t have to reapply like crazy because it’ll last you a while. For my makeup addicts, you can slowly build up your collection for this. It’s pricey but you can buy it one at a time. Like I said they have an amazing range of colors.

I hope you guys like it as much as I do! Here are the swatches! (BTW! I didn’t get all of this at once! I’ve been slowly collecting them since they came out almost two years ago.) Enjoy!

This is Julie. It looks really light in this color but it’s a bit more salmony orange in person. For my skin tone, this is a great everyday nude color and a great summer color.

This one’s Natalie and the most unique out of all the colors I own from this lipstick line. It’s a flamingo pink color and like I said, very unique. In this picture, it looks very pink but in person, it has a bit more of a peachy hue to it than just all pink. I love this one for spring and summer. I’ve said it like 3 times but I’m gonna say it again. I love this one because it’s unique in my whole collection. It’s hard for someone like me to wear bright pinks but not with this one.

Next up is Vera! My sweet beautiful Vera! I need a moment! (Sigh) You guys! This is definitely on the top 10 favorite lipsticks throughout my whole collection! Vera is that perfect dark raspberry color that will look good on soo many people. Especially for people with a tan or darker complexion. You can also get away with wearing this on summer nights for parties because of the raspberry color. It’s not as dark as its coming off in the picture. But anyways, love, love, LOVE!

Here we Sylvia! Beautiful, fun and bright orchid color. For me, I would wear this all year round but I would say it’s best to wear it around the summer.

Last we have Vivien. I know it looks really similar to Vera but they’re different, I promise! Vivien’s a lot darker and more of a wine while Vera has that berry undertone and looks a lot brighter. Also a gorgeous color and looks amazing in the fall and winter.

No Buy Lip Products for 2016 Challenge!

lip sticks

Hey guys! I hope you all had a wonderful new year! I for one am very excited to greet the year of 2016 with a no buy challenge for myself. It’s basically my new year’s resolution. This idea was inspired by the lovely blogger, Stash Matters. Her blog centers on treasuring her remarkable makeup collection and resisting the urge to add purchase new products. So make sure you check her out!

My No Buy Lip Product challenge is very similar to that idea. I am a crazy lip product junkie. My favorite makeup products are lipsticks and my lipstick collection has just gotten out of hand. So I decided not to buy any lip products for 2016 starting January 1st. I won’t even allow myself to buy chapstick because I’m pretty sure, I have enough lying around to last a year.

Every month, I pledge to create a significant post concerning any of my lip products. I might even make more than one post a month depending on my schedule but I don’t want to promise any more than that just in case.

I’m really excited to see how well I do on this challenge and how much money it’ll save me. I’ll have updates every now and then about how I’m doing for this challenge. Thanks so much reading!

Until next time!

As Always,
Nicole ❤

It’s Time for Change: Brunette to Blonde

A few days ago, I turned 21 and for my 21st birthday, I felt that I needed a major transformation. I went to the salon and this is pretty much what happened.

Here’s my before picture:

Here’s the process of my transformation:

Here are the results:

When I first saw it, I was pretty shocked. It was super bright and I was going for something more muted. But it turns out to be just their lighting. The salon I went to had super bright yellow lighting. Hence the color you see on my hair for this picture.

Here’s what my hair looks like in a more natural everyday lighting:

Overall, I’m happy with the results. I think it’s a good change especially transitioning into the spring and summer.

What are you guys doing for the spring and summer? Anyone getting a new haircut? Or perhaps some highlights? How bout some ombre hair?

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

As always,
Nicole ❤

Fyrinnae Eye Shadows Review & Swatches

Hey guys! I’m so excited to share with you another indie makeup company! I’m especially psyched to share this with you since it is my favorite indie makeup company so far. That honor goes to none other than Fyrinnae!

Fyrinnae is a small and special indie makeup company. They create vegan and cruelty free products for all of us makeup obsessed to lovers to enjoy. You can read more about their company and standards in the Fyrinnae About Us page!

If you want to skip to the review, it will be below the pictures.

I purchased seven eye shadows total and received one free eye shadow sample. Here are the swatches for the eye I have purchased and sampled.

Shenanigans, Enchanting Otters, Bonfire Spirits, Purgatory, Knickers in a Twist, Serene Highness, Freya and Conjured Tempest

Edited Eyeshadow Swatches 3.9.15

Eyeshadow Swatches 3.9.15

Eyeshadow Swatches Freya and Conjured Tempest 3.9.15

Quality & Pigmentation: Despite them being loose shadows, I found these eye shadows easy to work with. They were blendable and easy to apply. I found some fall outs during the application but that’s to be expected since they are loose shadows or maybe I’m just an eye shadow bully. I suggest putting on your concealer after your eye makeup is done. Other than that, I had no problems with fallouts throught the day. As for the pigmentation, the swatches speak for themselves in other words amazing!

Lasting Effect: I thought that these held out pretty well. I wore for 12 hours and saw some fading on my lid but not too much. My eye makeup was still pretty defined. You can wear them wet with a MAC Fix Plus or something equivalent to that to make them stay on longer and have a beautiful foiled effect.

Price: The price was definitely reasonable. Each shadow comes in two sizes: Full and Mini. Most of their mini’s cost around $2.75 which contain 1/4 tsp of eye shadow and Full sizes around $6.75 which contain 3 grams of densely packed eye shadow. Prices may vary depending on the eye shadow itself but the prices are usually not much higher than what I stated above. Usually arcane magic eye shadows cost more but then again can you blame them?! They are gorgeous! You can read more about the amount of eye shadows you get for the Full and Mini in their FAQ page. Trust me, the Mini can last you a while. Their shadows are highly pigmented and you won’t need a lot of eye shadow to get the color to show up. I plan to only purchase the full size for my favorites like Serene Highness. Overall, the price is a good price point. You get a lot for what you pay for and it’s inexpensive!

Color Variety: I was overwhelmed when I first visited their site. I had to comb through the colors piece by piece to make sure I didn’t miss my possible favorites. They have a VERY wide variety of UNIQUE colors. There’s something in there collection for everyone even if you’re not a shimmery eye shadow type of person, you’ll still find something there. They have some eye shadows that are not as shimmery and closer to matte textures available.

Process Time: Please note that if you are new (like me, I’m learning) to indie cosmetics, their process time is usually longer than streamlined cosmetics companies. I’ve learned that most indie cosmetics usually have a process time around 10 business days. Some companies may have a lower process time. However, it can also be due to a long order queue. As for Fyrinnae, their maximum process time should be never more than 15 days (thank you M.atFyrinnae). This is consistent with my experience. I believe my order shipped out within a week to a week and a half which is about 7-10 business day. To me, that still seems long. I’m just not the patient type especially when I’m excited to receive makeup. BUT, I guarantee that it is worth the wait!

Overall Thoughts: Well by now, you can guess that I’m absolutely in love and obsessed with Fyrinnae! I already put in a new order. I also ordered their pixie Epoxy. More on that later when I receive it. Their process and shipping time is LONG but I’m willing to wait for such beautiful eyeshadows!

Melt Cosmetics Lipstick Review and Swatches

Color/Pigmentation: These lipsticks are famous for their bold colors and amazing pigmentation. After playing with them for a month, they definitely live up to the hype. These are by far the most pigmentated lipsticks I own in eclectic lipstick collection. Their color variety is mostly made out of bold or bright colors. There are wearable colors available but not much neutral or nude lipsticks available yet.

Long Lasting Effect: I was impressed that these were long lasting especially for matte lipsticks. Once these babies set in, they are hard to take off. I once wore them from 10 AM to midnight and I still had trouble taking them. Not that you should really wear makeup that long but it was impressive.

Price: These retail for $19 each plus $7 for shipping. I buy high end makeup but I would still consider this expensive. Please consider that you will most likely have to buy this lipstick online. I did not find any indication on their website that they sold their products in store. That means no swatching or trying these out before purchasing them. At least with most high end makeup, you are able to try them out in the store. They do offer returns but you also have to pay for the shipping charge to ship the item back to them.

Formulation/Quality: To be honest, I was disappointed in the quality. The only thing I liked about the formulation was that the lipstick wasn’t overly drying. It was not creamy but it did not dry out my lips. This is a big plus considering that they are matte lipsticks.

However, the first time I swatched these on my hand, I got nervous. The lipstick did not glide on my hand as I swatched it. I had to swatch it on my hand a couple of times to make a good swatch. The formulation felt like how some of my drugstore lipsticks feel. There is nothing wrong with drugstore lipsticks, some of which are even better than some high end products. However, for $19, I expected more. The lipstick was not overly drying but that does not mean it did not make my lips feel dry after a couple of hours. I fixed this by putting on chap stick underneath and was able to wear it all day. Also, I must warn you guys that these lipsticks did bleed on me, so make sure you wear lip liner. Yes, I know that these are matte lipsticks and that I should expect them to be a little drying and not creamy. However, I have purchased other matte lipsticks that are creamier and have better quality than these for around the same price.

Overall Thoughts and Is It Worth It?: They’re motto is ultra matte.bold.radioactive. It would be a lie for me to say that I did not enjoy these lipsticks because I did.Their motto states what I love in lipsticks and makeup. With that being said, if you are the type of person that loves bold, bright, pigmented lipsticks then this is your brand to try. When you wear lipsticks, you are really making an audacious statement. They have beautiful bold and unique colors for lipsticks like their dark green and blue colored lipsticks. So if you are that type of person, then I would recommend these lipsticks to you. They will be on your lips bold and bright all day.

If you are not a big fan of bold lipsticks and prefer neutral or more wearable every day lipsticks, then these lipsticks are not for you. Even if you like to wear bold lipsticks once in a while for special occasions. Maybe you’re considering purchasing the colors I have above which are actually more of the wearable colors that they have in this line. I would still say that it’s better to go with a different brand of lipsticks, maybe for cheaper since you’re not going to wear it often. Save your money and use it for a cosmetic brand that carries the type of lipstick colors you will actually wear daily.
