Hello everyone! I’m back and this time it’s for real! So my hiatus took waaay longer than expected but I’m ecstatic to be blogging again and I can’t wait to catch up with everyone.
For today, I am showing you all my favorites for August and pretty much all the other months that I’ve been on my hiatus which was probably the whole summer. So I’ll try to keep my explanations brief because I have a lot to show you guys.
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating – This was pretty much the only liquid face makeup I could wear during the summer. It’s light and it does not feel like makeup is melting on my face even when it’s hot out. It has light-medium coverage. For me, this is a great product and have been enjoying it throughout the summer.
Elf Baked Blush in Pink Tastic – First of all, this is not a blush. I don’t know why they consider this a blush because it’s not going to give anyone any color at all on their cheeks. BUT it is a beautiful highlighter! It’s also very inexpensive, so it came in handy when I went to New York and I didn’t want to bring my expensive highlighters.
Laura Geller Baked Highlighter in French Vanilla – This is another beautiful highlighter and it looks very natural on the skin. It’s one of those highlighters that give you a glow from the inside but you need a light hand with it. I love highlighters and I can easily go crazy with them and brush them all over my face like there’s no tomorrow but if I do that with this highlighter, then it can make me look ashy very quickly.
Elf Smudge Pot in Crusin’ Chic – This is basically a cream eye shadow. There’s not much that I can say about this other than it’s a great color, it’s cheap, and it doesn’t crease with an eye primer underneath. It’s perfect for those lazy days that you still want your eye lids to look bright and alive but you don’t want to do any work on them.
Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel in Eat Cake – The perfect summer nude lip color for people who have darker skin tones. I’m sure it’ll look great on those that have lighter skin tone but this is a really nice nude peachy color. It’s also very hydrating and easy to wear. It was surprisingly pigmented as well.
Gerard Cosmetics Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Gloss in Butter Cream – I will have a more in depth review of these lip glosses. In fact, I have a haul coming up for these lip glosses. But for now, I will just talk about the color. This color is a beautiful everyday nude and I love the fact that it’s a lighter nude color but it doesn’t wash me out.
Elf Extra Lip Gloss in Michael – The color comes off burgandy in the picture but it is more of a mauve color. Just a beautiful color in general that you can wear any time of the year. It’s very pigmented for a lip gloss and I use it as a substitute for lipstick on those days where I just want to carry a lip product and can easily be applied without any worries.
Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Paradise Pink Number 15 – Unlike the other two lip glosses that are super pigmented and can be substituted for a lipstick, this one is more of a traditional lip gloss. It’s sheer but it’s pigmented enough for the color to show through. I haven’t liked a lip gloss like this in a while, so I’m very impressed at Sephora. This is one of those rare lip glosses that aren’t as sticky as others (to me all lip glosses are sticky) and still pigmented. Plus, I think it’s a fun color for summer.
Dose of Colors Liquid Lipstick in Berry Me – Even if it’s summer, I still have to have that one crazy and super fun color. This is a liquid lipstick, so it is a little drying but it’s tolerable. Overall, I just love the color. It’s very flattering.
Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette – There’s a very beautiful intricate design on the palette but it’s not showing on the picture and I forgot to take a picture of the inside. I’m going to have a more in depth review in the future, so I won’t go into this too much. This is pretty much the only palette I’ve been using for most of my hiatus. It’s more flattering on lighter skin tones but it still looks great on people who have darker skin tones like me. It’s very easy to work with which is basically my theme for this whole post.
Blame it on Nars Cheek Palette – I’m sorry that this is so late but I bought this during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and it is limited edition. But it’s what I’ve been using throughout the summer. I’ve gotten very tan during the summer and my bronzers don’t suit my skin tone anymore but Casino does. I also love the other two blushes. They’re perfect for the summer.
Hakuhodo S J110 Brush – I look back on all the times that I’ve heard people say that a new brush they got is super soft or is the softest brush in the world and I have probably said that too but guys, you have not felt soft, until you have felt this brush or probably anything from the Hakuhodo brushes. I haven’t touched any of my other blush brushes every since I’ve started using this. It picks up just the right amount of blush, it’s very easy to work with and it is VERY SOFT!
Kat Van D Tattoo Liner in Trooper – When I bought this liner, I actually meant to buy the newer one that people have been saying replaced their all time favorite Stila liner. BUT I have actually fallen in love with this liner and is now my favorite liquid liner. I love the brush on this. It’s something different but for me, it’s easier to work with based on my application style. I still want to try the new Kat Von D liner but currently, I’m very impressed with this one.
Elf Waterproof Eye Liner Pen – So by now, you might be wondering, what’s with all the Elf products? I’m actually going to start a new series on my blog where I give recommendations, best and worst advice for products from a single makeup brand. That’s why I’ve been trying to gather my thoughts about Elf products. I think this eye liner is great. It’s not as dark as the Stila or Kat Von D liner but it does the job. It’s easy to apply, last all day and inexpensive. I took this to New York with me also and it lasted through the heat and humidity which is very impressive.
Victoria Secret Pink Hair & Body Mist in Surf Days – This was my best friend on those really humid and hot days. I carried this everywhere I went and just sprayed it whenever I felt like I needed to. It cooled me down and gave a me a sense of relief. Plus it smells so refreshing.
Primal Pit Paste Natural Deodorant Stick in Royal and Rogue – I’ve been looking for a natural deodorant for a while that would stay on for a long period of time and my search ended when I found this. Most natural deodorants that I’ve tried usually lasted 3-4 hours which was disappointing because I didn’t want to have to carry around my deodorant everywhere I went. It was even worse on super hot days. This one lasts 12 hours on normal days and on super hot sticky days, I would say it lasts about 8 hours.
Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray – I received this as a free mini gift from Ulta who knows how long ago but I found it a couple of months ago and decided to give it a try. I naturally have way hair which I blow dry but during the summer days, I usually get lazy. So I just sprayed this on my hair and let it air dry and my hair looked amazing! Best of all, my hair hair wasn’t sticky.
If you made it through this post then congrats and thank you! I know it was a very long post but thank you reading and I will catch you guys next time.
