NARS Audacious Lipstick Review and Lip Swatches!

Hey guys! I know it’s been a while but I’ve been out of the country lately and it was difficult to find a good internet source in the location I was at, so I couldn’t make any posts.

This month, I’ll be reviewing the NARS Audacious lipstick WITH lip swatches! If you haven’t heard of them, you are now and you should! These lipsticks are fantastic. So why bother doing a review? Even with its superior quality, these lipsticks are pricey.

I’ll start with the review. If you want to just see the lip swatches, then scroll down below after the review.

(Starting from the left: Julie, Natalie, Vera, Silvia, Vivien)

Quality and Pigmentation: Quite possibly one of the best quality lipsticks that I own. This lipstick is creamy, glides on smoothly and doesn’t bleed. The pigmentation is superior for a lipstick. All of the swatches on my arm were done with one swatch except the first one because I was swatching from a weird angle. That’s the amazing thing about this lipstick. You don’t have to coat your lips over and over again to get that full luscious color. One good swipe is enough.

Lasting Effect: I would say that the lasting effect of this lipstick is above average. This can honestly last you for an 8 hour work or school day. For me personally, I reapply around the 6 or 7 hour mark because that’s when I can see the color fading away. It’s not too bad, but I prefer to have my lipstick fully bright all day long. If you don’t reapply around that mark, then the color will still be there. It will look a little faded but the color will still be noticeable.

Price: The only downside of this lipstick is the price. This lipstick retails for $32 which is VERY pricey for a lipstick. I think these are one of the most expensive lipsticks I own. BUT! You really do get what you pay for. This lipstick may be expensive but the quality will not disappoint.

The BIG question: IS IT WORTH? Absolutely! Like I said the quality will not disappoint. This lipstick really does excel in quality, lasting effect and pigmentation. I recommend it for everyone ranging from beauty addicts or to those that just wants one good everyday lipstick. Especially for those that want one good lipstick. They have a huge range of colors and will have something for everyone. Pick one, earn up and get it. Even if you use this everyday, you won’t use it up that fast. It’s very pigmented, so you only need a little to apply it. You also won’t have to reapply like crazy because it’ll last you a while. For my makeup addicts, you can slowly build up your collection for this. It’s pricey but you can buy it one at a time. Like I said they have an amazing range of colors.

I hope you guys like it as much as I do! Here are the swatches! (BTW! I didn’t get all of this at once! I’ve been slowly collecting them since they came out almost two years ago.) Enjoy!

This is Julie. It looks really light in this color but it’s a bit more salmony orange in person. For my skin tone, this is a great everyday nude color and a great summer color.

This one’s Natalie and the most unique out of all the colors I own from this lipstick line. It’s a flamingo pink color and like I said, very unique. In this picture, it looks very pink but in person, it has a bit more of a peachy hue to it than just all pink. I love this one for spring and summer. I’ve said it like 3 times but I’m gonna say it again. I love this one because it’s unique in my whole collection. It’s hard for someone like me to wear bright pinks but not with this one.

Next up is Vera! My sweet beautiful Vera! I need a moment! (Sigh) You guys! This is definitely on the top 10 favorite lipsticks throughout my whole collection! Vera is that perfect dark raspberry color that will look good on soo many people. Especially for people with a tan or darker complexion. You can also get away with wearing this on summer nights for parties because of the raspberry color. It’s not as dark as its coming off in the picture. But anyways, love, love, LOVE!

Here we Sylvia! Beautiful, fun and bright orchid color. For me, I would wear this all year round but I would say it’s best to wear it around the summer.

Last we have Vivien. I know it looks really similar to Vera but they’re different, I promise! Vivien’s a lot darker and more of a wine while Vera has that berry undertone and looks a lot brighter. Also a gorgeous color and looks amazing in the fall and winter.

No Buy Lip Products for 2016 Challenge!

lip sticks

Hey guys! I hope you all had a wonderful new year! I for one am very excited to greet the year of 2016 with a no buy challenge for myself. It’s basically my new year’s resolution. This idea was inspired by the lovely blogger, Stash Matters. Her blog centers on treasuring her remarkable makeup collection and resisting the urge to add purchase new products. So make sure you check her out!

My No Buy Lip Product challenge is very similar to that idea. I am a crazy lip product junkie. My favorite makeup products are lipsticks and my lipstick collection has just gotten out of hand. So I decided not to buy any lip products for 2016 starting January 1st. I won’t even allow myself to buy chapstick because I’m pretty sure, I have enough lying around to last a year.

Every month, I pledge to create a significant post concerning any of my lip products. I might even make more than one post a month depending on my schedule but I don’t want to promise any more than that just in case.

I’m really excited to see how well I do on this challenge and how much money it’ll save me. I’ll have updates every now and then about how I’m doing for this challenge. Thanks so much reading!

Until next time!

As Always,
Nicole ❤

The One Lovely Blog Award

It’s been a while since I’ve done a reward post. Today I have the pleasure of sharing the One Lovely Blog Award. I was nominated by Pretty Makeup Stuff. She is an aspiring esthetician and a certified makeup artist. She’s passionate about beauty and desires to learn everything in the makeup and beauty world. So make sure you go check her out!

Here are the rules for the award:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • List the rules and display the award.
  • State 7 facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 5 – 10 bloggers for the award and leave a comment on one of their posts to let them know.

Here are 7 facts about me:

My biggest weakness with makeup products are lipsticks or any kind of lip product. I just fall for them so easily.

I have two huge passions in life: Makeup/Beauty and Gaming! The makeup/beauty part is obvious since that’s what my blog is about but most people are surprised about the passion I have for gaming. I could play video games for hours without realizing the time and I would play almost any type of game.

winx club
Part of the reason why I love dressing up as fairy for Halloween is because I grew up watching the Winx Club.

I love and have a very high tolerance for spicy food.

Despite my lack of time to read, I’m still a book worm. My favorite things to read are Y/A or teen books even though I’m not a teen anymore. I still love reading books from the genre.

My favorite color is red. While pink and purple come to a close second, my favorite will always be red.

I live in the night! Yeah that sounded better in my head but it’s true. I’m a night person. I function better at night and I have more energy at night. I’m one of those people that are just super cranky in the morning and needs to wake up at noon for me function properly.

Fall Tag 2015

Hey guys! Lately Fall Tags have been going around and I’ve been wanting to do a lifestyle post for quite a while so I decided what better topic to do than a Fall relate post. I am tagging everyone that reads this post. You can post your link below of your Fall tag and I would love to read it but I’m also tagging specific people below.

Anyways! Enjoy!

Favorite Candle – This honor goes to Bath & Body’s Marshamallow Fireside candle. I discovered this late last year around the holidays and burned through about 4 of them in the 3-wick sizes before I even made it to spring. Sadly, I only had that many. I love this scent because it’s subtle, sweet and warm which is exactly how I feel fall and winter candles is supposed to smell like.

Favorite Lip Color – Anything bold, dark, and red fits this category for me through the fall and these are also my favorite colors for lip shades overall. Here are some of my ultimate favs for fall that fits this category.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Vera
Colourpop Lippie Stix in Ellaire and Lady
Colourpop Liquid Lipstick in Avenue

Favorite Drink – Hands down, it has to be Raspberry Hot Chocolate from Starbucks. Overall, when fall starts, I just feel like things should cooling down, people should be wearing sweaters and drinking hot cocoa. I just like the added raspberry to it.

Favorite Blush – I never really thought about this but if I had to pick one then probably Colourpop’s Super Shock Cheek blush in Cheerio. This color may be daunting to a lot of people and it’s not one that will look good on everyone. I think it may be too dark for people that have very fair skin. But I personally really like it for the fall just because it goes with a lot of the typical fall colors like reds, purples, and warm shimmery browns.

Favorite Clothing Item – Ummmm hmmm….have to think about this…Oh no wait. I’m kidding myself, it’s definitely sweaters. One of the many reason I love fall is because it is the season of sweaters.

Favorite Fall Movie – It has to be a Harry Potter movie. Any one of them, I always watch during this time of year because of a wonderful fall memory. There was this one Thanksgiving that was hosted at my aunt’s house and I was sitting by their fireplace with a hot cocoa in my hand while watching a movie. It was cold that day and I was wearing my favorite sweater. At that moment, everything was bliss and perfect. The movie that I was watching was a Harry Potter movie. So whenever I watch a Harry Potter movie around this time of year, I always go back to the happy and beautiful memory.

Favorite Fall TV Show – With Halloween around the corner, I like watching Charmed for the show. I grew up watching this right after school starts and as soon as I would come home during the fall. It was on around 4 PM everyday and I still hold that tradition of watching this show around this time of year. But on Netflix instead of the television.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food – I think it’s hilarious reading and watching people that do this tag because most people when it comes to this question answers Mashed Potatoes. That’s my exact same answer too but Mashed Potatoes with gravy. Yes, I need the gravy.

Favorite Halloween Costume – I love being a fairy for Halloween just because I the overall costume and versatility of it. Like I’ve probably been a fairy 5 times for Halloween or maybe more. There’s not just one fairy, there’s water fairies, dark fairies, etc. All of these can look different and have different makeup. Plus, I’m obsessed with fairies and who doesn’t like fairies?

Anyways here are the people I’m tagging!

Gerard Cosmetics Haul September 2015

packaging all together

Hello everyone! Today, I have a mini Gerard Cosmetics Haul. These are the first products that I’ve ever purchased from Gerard Cosmetics, so I’m super psyched to try them. I did get these a while ago, maybe a month ago. So you might notice that one of them is actually in my favorites from last month. But I still wanted to show you guys this haul because I’ve heard so many great things about these lip glosses and I can’t wait to finally try them myself.

Tip of the day! Of course, I have to have one. I can’t really remember who told me this but someone told me that if you want to buy these lip glosses, don’t buy them full price. It took me a while before I finally decided to try these out and whoever told me that was right. GC has a different sale every week and usually these are in a pack together when they go on sale but they are $10. So just wait until you find a sale that you like and then get these lip glosses.’

Anyways! On to the haul! These are Color Your Smile Lip Glosses.

I had to show you guys the box even if it’s not an unboxing because let’s face it, their packaging is gorgeous! It’s so sleek, clean and classy! I’m not just talking about the box. I’m also talking about the packaging for lip glosses too!

Alright! Here they are! My picture taking skills were nonexistent this day, so please bear with me. From left to right: Salmon >> Buttercream >> Wild Orchid >> Jewel >> Rose Hill.

5 lipglosses

lipgloss tube mirror

So it does come with a mirror which is very convenient and it also comes with a built in light for when try to put on lip gloss in the dark.

light up

I have mixed feelings about the lights. I like the idea because it is convenient when you’re out at night and you’re trying to retouch your lip gloss. You won’t have to sneak away to the bathroom to see if you’re putting on your lip gloss on your lips. But then again, during daytime, I find the lights distracting. When I put this on in the morning, I tend to panic when I see that the color looks a lot different because the light is shining on it and it makes the color look different. But after you put it down, then you can see the actual color. To me, I really could have done without the lights. It’s a great idea but it’s a little gimmicky to me.

Anyways, thank you so much for stopping by!

I’ll catch you guys next time!

As Always,
Nicole ❤

MAC is Beauty Haul! Swatches & Mini Review Included!

Mac is Beauty Haul Pic

Hey guys! I went to go check out the new MAC collection called MAC is Beauty. I have been keeping a close eye on this collection ever since I missed the Cinderella collection 😦 I fell in love with this collection when I saw all the beautiful pastels. So I made my trip to MAC and did a little hauling.

In this post, I will reveal my overall thoughts on the collection based on my trip at MAC and swatches for the products I hauled. Enjoy!

Copperthorn Collage

First up is a fluidline called Copperthorn. This color is so gorgeous. I wish my swatch was better but it’s a beautiful copper gold. It’s like the more glamorous version of Rubenesque.

Siahi Collage

Siahi also a fluidline and the purchase that I’m most excited about. This is not just an ordinary blue color like on the swatch. If I moved my hand around in this watch, flecks green would start to show and the color would look more turquoise. The lady at MAC said it reminded her of a peacock and she’s absolutely right. When I play around with this color, that’s exactly how I would describe it.

Call the hairdresser collage

I was debating between Call the Hairdresser! and Make Me Gorgeous but I went with this one because I thought it would suit my skin tone better. Make Me Gorgeous was just too loud and bright for me. I love my bolds and brights but I have to be careful with corals and oranges. They tend to not always agree with my skin tone. Call the Hairdresser! is like a pinky coral. It’s a very fun color for spring.

Divaish collage

Diva-ish was calling out to me right when I first saw the collection in person. I knew right away I was not walking out of that store without it. Diva-ish was described on the MAC website as an intense fuchsia but I feel like it’s more or a warm toned fuchsia. I love the color and the finish for this lipstick. It’s playful, fun, and it’s going to look great for the spring and summer.

Mac 275 brush

I totally got sweet talked into getting this brush but I used it this morning and I actually ended up loving it, so it might be a new favorite.

Thoughts on the Collection: I mentioned above that this collection is geared towards pastels and yet the colors I bought ended up being completely different colors from pastels. With that being said, I was actually disappointed in the collection. When I swatched the pastels that I wanted, they ended not swatching well. Even after playing around with them for a bit, I just couldn’t grow to love them. I really wanted Preening (green) and Wow Factor (lavender) eye shadows but the pigmentation was very poor. Yogurt (pale pink) showed up better than Wow Factor which was really disappointing. The same story goes for the lipsticks and lip glosses. When I swatched them, they just didn’t look as good as the color that I was looking at. The fluidlines had a beautiful array of colors. Most of which were unique but I was afraid that they will dry out too fast and decided to only get two. Overall, the pastels in this collection was a disappointment. But, I’m still satisfied with my purchase.

Melt Cosmetics Lipstick Review and Swatches

As promised, I have a review of one of the cosmetics companies that I have been exploring for the past few months. In those past few months, I discovered small makeup companies that are very unique. Today, I’m present my review on Melt Cosmetics lipsticks.

You can purchase them here:Melt Cosmetics

Color/Pigmentation: These lipsticks are famous for their bold colors and amazing pigmentation. After playing with them for a month, they definitely live up to the hype. These are by far the most pigmentated lipsticks I own in eclectic lipstick collection. Their color variety is mostly made out of bold or bright colors. There are wearable colors available but not much neutral or nude lipsticks available yet.

Long Lasting Effect: I was impressed that these were long lasting especially for matte lipsticks. Once these babies set in, they are hard to take off. I once wore them from 10 AM to midnight and I still had trouble taking them. Not that you should really wear makeup that long but it was impressive.

Price: These retail for $19 each plus $7 for shipping. I buy high end makeup but I would still consider this expensive. Please consider that you will most likely have to buy this lipstick online. I did not find any indication on their website that they sold their products in store. That means no swatching or trying these out before purchasing them. At least with most high end makeup, you are able to try them out in the store. They do offer returns but you also have to pay for the shipping charge to ship the item back to them.

Formulation/Quality: To be honest, I was disappointed in the quality. The only thing I liked about the formulation was that the lipstick wasn’t overly drying. It was not creamy but it did not dry out my lips. This is a big plus considering that they are matte lipsticks.

However, the first time I swatched these on my hand, I got nervous. The lipstick did not glide on my hand as I swatched it. I had to swatch it on my hand a couple of times to make a good swatch. The formulation felt like how some of my drugstore lipsticks feel. There is nothing wrong with drugstore lipsticks, some of which are even better than some high end products. However, for $19, I expected more. The lipstick was not overly drying but that does not mean it did not make my lips feel dry after a couple of hours. I fixed this by putting on chap stick underneath and was able to wear it all day. Also, I must warn you guys that these lipsticks did bleed on me, so make sure you wear lip liner. Yes, I know that these are matte lipsticks and that I should expect them to be a little drying and not creamy. However, I have purchased other matte lipsticks that are creamier and have better quality than these for around the same price.

Overall Thoughts and Is It Worth It?: They’re motto is ultra matte.bold.radioactive. It would be a lie for me to say that I did not enjoy these lipsticks because I did.Their motto states what I love in lipsticks and makeup. With that being said, if you are the type of person that loves bold, bright, pigmented lipsticks then this is your brand to try. When you wear lipsticks, you are really making an audacious statement. They have beautiful bold and unique colors for lipsticks like their dark green and blue colored lipsticks. So if you are that type of person, then I would recommend these lipsticks to you. They will be on your lips bold and bright all day.

If you are not a big fan of bold lipsticks and prefer neutral or more wearable every day lipsticks, then these lipsticks are not for you. Even if you like to wear bold lipsticks once in a while for special occasions. Maybe you’re considering purchasing the colors I have above which are actually more of the wearable colors that they have in this line. I would still say that it’s better to go with a different brand of lipsticks, maybe for cheaper since you’re not going to wear it often. Save your money and use it for a cosmetic brand that carries the type of lipstick colors you will actually wear daily.
