Simple Micellar Cleansing Water Review

screen-shot-2015-03-17-at-1-39-12-pm

The new makeup removal trend has been the micellar cleansing water. I’m a little late on the hype for this but I finally gave it a try. I love the idea of using this to clear your eye makeup and also your face makeup. I thought that if I could make this work, then I don’t have to use an eye makeup remover and cleansing oil to take my makeup off. It would just be one product which is very convenient.

More companies are coming out with this type of cleanser but the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water was the most accessible for me. Bioderma (one of the most hyped ones out there) can only be accessible to me through online purchase and Garnier Micellar Water is not available in my area =( However this one was everywhere! I saw it at Target, Ulta, and pretty much every drugstore I went to. So I decided to give it a try.

Makeup Removal: For the most part, this is probably the most important aspect of this product and to me it fell short of its promises. It claims that it can also remove eye makeup and while it excelled in removing my face makeup and eye shadow, I found that it struggled to remove waterproof makeup. In the end, I still had to use my eye makeup remover to completely take my mascara and eyeliner off.

Is it hydrating? Short answer, not really. One of the claims that this product makes is that it is supposed to leave your skin hydrated after use. However, my skin just felt like it always does. My skin didn’t feel hydrated at all but it did not feel dry either which can happen sometimes when I’m using cleansing products.

For sensitive skin? Absolutely! That is probably the best thing about this product. Usually my skin would have reaction during the first week of trying new skin care products but not for this one. My skin was completely fine even on the first use. It also did not irritate my skin which some makeup removal products tend to do.

Would I repurchase and recommend? I will probably not be repurchasing this product and I would not recommend it to MOST people. To me, it’s not that different from my cleansing oil except my cleansing oil hydrates my skin a lot more and since I have dry skin, that extra hydration is necessary. HOWEVER, I DO RECOMMEND this to people that like to do the whole makeup removal strip down where you remove your eye makeup with an eye makeup remover and a cleansing oil for your face. There are some people that struggle with cleansing oils because it does not work well with their skin. This can work as a cleansing oil if your skin cannot handle cleansing oils. It’s very gentle on the skin and will still remove face makeup.

I still have hope for micellar water cleansers. I just need to find the right one for me. If you have tried any micellar water cleansers then please comment down below and recommend them!

Until next time!

Ipsy Box September 2015

cover pic

I’ve had good run with Ipsy for probably a year now but it’s time for me to let go. This will be my last Ipsy box. There’s nothing wrong with Ipsy but for a few months now, I haven’t been getting anything that I’ve been interested in. I tried changing up my quiz and even doing more surveys of the products that I have received the past few months but sadly, nothing’s worked. Ironically, I decided to unsubscribe last month, but the last box they sent me ended up being a box that I would love. However, that has not changed my decision. I don’t want to get 4 month’s worth of boxes to be all misses then have the 5th box to be hit. It’s just not worth it anymore.

Since it’s my last box, I decided to share it with you guys! Enjoy!

ipsy nyx palette
Even though, I love nyx palettes, this might go to my mom. I have too many colors like this and I don’t need more but my mom will certainly enjoy it.

face scrub and moisturizing cream
Can’t wait to try these and very timely too. With fall and winter coming, my skin is gonna be as dry as the desert.

nail polish
I love nail polishes like these! Especially for the fall! There’s just something so fun about having a dark blood red nail polish. This nail polish is called Ignite.

city color lipstick
I’ve received something from this company before and honestly, I can’t remember if I liked it or not. But I’m guessing since I don’t remember, it was either a miss or mediocre. However, this one is not. I love the color and definitely something I would wear. I was also surprised about the swatch. The swatch was very creamy, smooth and pigmented. This color is called One Night Stand.

Thanks for reading!

March Favorites 2015 Spring Transitions

It’s finally the end of March. What an amazing month it’s been! Spring has officially started and we are seeing buds bloom and touches of winter fading away. But before we can put on floral dresses and visit tulip festivals, here are some March favorites!

March Favs 2015 pic

Ocean Salt and Powermud edit

I don’t know what it is but lately I’ve been getting more building up on my skin lately. I’ve probably been applying too much makeup lately or maybe it’s just all the pollen in the air. Nevertheless, they are clogging my pores and these two are the perfect duo to clear things up. I love all the Glam Glow face masks but Powermud is one of my favorites just because it’s made for clearing build ups. It’s probably the most used face mask I have in my collection. Ocean Salt is an all year favorite. I use this a couple of times a week and it leaves my face smooth, clean, and health.

Ro's Argan edit

This is a new holy grail product for me! It’s about time mend all the dry skin that was created during the winter. My elbows, knees and some parts of my legs tend to get dry over the winter which can cause it to look flaky even when I use lotion. After putting this on the driest parts of my body, I was amazed at the results. My skin instantly felt softer and smoother and it gets better every time I put this on. It can also be used after shaving. It’ll make your feel super smooth!

edited sparkle baby

I’m not going to get into this too much. There will be a tutorial and review for this palette soon! So stayed tuned! However, it is a pastel palette and perfect for the spring time.

Serene Highness college

Even with spring around the corner, I still enjoy my smokey eyes. Especially since I turned 21 this month, a smokey eye was called for. The swatch on this picture does not do justice for this color. This is my favorite color from Fyrinnae at the moment. Ironically, it was also the sample color that they sent. It’s a gorgeous eggplant color that gives a beautiful blue green iridescent shine when light hits it.

Cookie and Hot Plum collage

Alright, my lip colors of the month goes to ColourPop’s LippieStix in Cookie and Maybelline’s ColorSensational Vivids in Hot Plum! I am so excited to finally be wearing my crazy hot and bright lip colors! Hot Plum is so gorgeous especially with a soft spring makeup look. It really does scream spring. Cookie is just a beautiful nude color on my skin tone. Even though, I extremely enjoy fun and colorful looks, every now and then, I enjoy toning it down and having a more subtle neutral look. I love Cookie because it looks like a nude lip color for my skin tone. However, it still gives enough color to my lips so I don’t look flushed out.

My favorite song this month was tough one, it came very close to a tie but maybe the other song will be my next month’s favorite. Anyway that honor goes to Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding! I’ve had this on repeat for pretty much the whole month! Enjoy! I would put the video on here but it keeps changing my featured image on the wordpress feed and wherever else I link it. If anyone knows how to fix this, please comment below and let me know.

What have you guys been loving for the month of March? Did you have anything fun happen? Anyone have any birthdays this month?

Anyways, thank you so much reading! Have an awesome fantastic day!

As Always,
Nicole ❤

Beauty Gift Guide $20 and Under
  1. EOS Lip Balm: This can be bought for great deals and sets at Ulta and Costco

  7. Bite Beauty Min N’ Mingle Lip Minis: Great for stocking stuffers!
  8. Nail polish: Always a great gift for beauty lovers. There are a lot of sets from both Sephora and Ulta for great deals.

$20 – $40

Beauty Gift Guide $20-$40
  1. NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo: Both blush and bronzer are highly respected and well-liked in the beauty community. Most beauty lovers will fall in love with this gift.
  2. Formula X – Paint the town: A great gift for nail polish lovers or those looking to widen their color range of nail polish. This is not on the Sephora website anymore but can be found at Sephora stores. I checked three different malls in different cities for this and they all had plenty of stock for them. If you want to purchase it for the Sephora price which is much cheaper than Amazon’s, then go to your local Sephora store!
  3. Too Faced Beauty Wishes and Sweet Kisses: A beautiful set for beginners or those that want to be more familiar with the Too faced brand.
  4. Tarte Sweet Dreams Deluxe Best Sellers Collections: A wonderful set for a wonderful deal!
  5. Sephora Favorites: Give Me Some Lip: Great for lip product lovers! Includes some of the most coveted lip products.

$40 and above

Beauty Gift Guide $40 and Up
  1. Lorac Pro Palette 1 & 2: At the moment, these are my favorite eye shadow palettes and favorite brand for eyeshadows! I highly recommend these palettes as gifts to any beauty lovers that don’t already have it! Amazing eye shadow formulation and a wide range of colors. This is good for people that are starting out with makeup or even professionals.
  2. Smashbox On the Rocks Photo Op Shadow Luxe: Great for neutral palette lovers! It gives them enough for everyday and smoky eye looks. There are also a few bright colors that gives them the option of playing with colors.
  3. Perfume or Perfume Sampler: In my experience, perfume has been one of the hardest gifts to give. Everyone has a different sense of smell and unless you know the person well and what types of smells they like or they tell you that they desire a specific perfume, then I recommend to skip the perfume idea. However, the perfume sampler is also a great alternative to give instead of a specific perfume. There is a voucher for a full size perfume inside this set. The recipient will be able to choose which perfume they like.
  4. Flat Iron or Curler: There are many possibilities for these but I currently own a Sedu Revolution Flat Iron. I bought mine from Folica but I got mine for a different price. Folica has fluctuating sales on products like this. If you are willing to wait then you can purchase this for a much lower price. Other brands that I would recomment are Babyliss, Chi, and Remmington for hair styling tools.
  5. Glam Glow Gift Sexy: Amazing gift for skin care lovers. These are the best facial masks I have ever tried. They are out of stock at the Sephora website at the moment but I found plenty of stock in other Sephora stores that I have been to for the past month.
  6. NARS World Domination Cheek Palette: At the moment, my favorites cheek palette. These are awesome for people that travel, always on the run or those that do not want to carry too many things. It has three blushes, a highlighter and the Laguna bronzer.
I hope I helped some of you find some gift ideas and the others with their shopping list! I hope you all have a blessed, wonderful holiday!
As Always,
Nicole ❤
